CZ: police raids net "huge" money laundering operation

Police in the Czech Republic are claiming a huge success in their battle against financial crime with an overnight raid.

Narodni Street in Prague is usually the scene of calm but on Monday morning the aftermath of an overnight raid at the city centre offices of what police describe as a "huge money laundering ring" caused disruption.

Files, boxes and computers were being carted out of the offices into waiting police vans.

"It's millions of dollars, using bureau de change and apartment sales and rentals," said a police spokesman.

The police anti corruption unit said that the amount laundered exceeded the equivalent of USD300 million.
